Hi, I am a mathematician who really enjoys travelling. Hence, the main focus of this private website is on these very topics: My pages on mathematics deal with the mathematical olympiad and studying maths. My travels all around the globe are described in numerous diaries and photo albums.

The most recent news about my private website and (above all) my travels can generally be found in my blog "Vienna and the Wide, Wide World". As far as my travels in the recent past are concerned, a short overview (of those that are reviewed on this website) is provided in the following:

My latest trip (in May 2010) went to the United States, where I explored the "Best of the West". This Trek America tour visited both more mountainous (and, therefore, colder) regions like Yosemite and Yellowstone, as well as the "Desert Southwest" in Utah and Arizona. This diversity of (more or less) unspoiled nature made this trip (again) a very beautiful one. Highlights included Yosemite in snow, the Canyonlands, and hiking the Angels Landing trail in Zion NP.

About a year before that, I returned from my RTW trip. I took me just under eight months (from the end of September 2008 to mid-May 2009) to travel around the globe, with a focus on New Zealand/South Pacific and Central America. I was blogging quite a lot about this trip, though mostly just in German.

In late 2007 and early 2008, I spent one month in Patagonia. This Viventura tour was my first (and, so far, last) stay in South America. Hiking in the untouched nature of Argentina and Chile, close to (or even directly on) vulcanos and glaciers, made this holiday a very memorable one.

In the second half of June 2007, I was on a two-weeks-long holiday in Ireland. During the first week, I was touring the Western coast in the beautiful Irish countryside. The second week, I spent in and around Dublin, enjoying the rich culture of the island.

Where? Yosemite Valley, United States
When? August 13, 2003
What? Yosemite NP was a great setting for celebrating my birthday.

But also before these holidays, I already travelled a lot. A short trip overview gives an idea of my travels during the last years. For some of these trips, I have even written an online diary (in German), which can also be found on this website.

Moreover, quite a few photo albums are available online (even in English). Most of them are stored on this very website. However, some of them can only be found elsewhere. The latter albums show the "World in 36 Pictures" – or, more precisely, some of my destinations in 36 pictures each.

Finally, this website also offers some pages to other topics than my travels. However, these have lost part of their importance over the last few years, and are no longer updated as regularly as my travel pages. Still, they might be of interest to some. These pages include
