Mathematical modeling and simulation is used for
- enhancing the knowledge of a certain mechanism in the studied process
- making predictions about the system behaviour (if this should be suitable and useful)
- designing or testing a control system for a certain process
- performing tests which would be too complicated, too expensive or too dangerous if performed on the real system
The basics of this subject are taught at UT Vienna in the course "Modeling and Simulation". Furthermore, a large number of additional courses and seminars are offered.
